Privacy Policy

The short version: ClipLens stores everything you copy locally on your own machine. Your clipboard history is never uploaded to us. The only time any clip content leaves your computer is when you explicitly trigger an AI feature — and even then, sensitive data is filtered out first.

1. Who we are

ClipLens ("we", "us") is a clipboard manager application for Windows and its website at cliplens.dev. For any privacy question, contact [email protected].

2. Data the app stores on your device

Your clipboard history (text, links, code, colors, and small images) is saved in a local database in your Windows user folder (%APPDATA%\cliplens). It never leaves your machine except as described in section 4.
App settings (shortcut, auto-clean preference, etc.) are stored locally.
Sensitive data is never stored. Passwords, credit card numbers, API keys, private keys, tokens, and similar secrets are detected and excluded from your history.

3. Data we do not collect

The app does not contain advertising or third-party tracking SDKs. We do not collect your clipboard contents, browsing activity, or build a profile of you.

4. AI features (optional)

AI features (AI Search, AI Explain, AI Translate, AI Improve Writing) are opt-in — they only run when you trigger them. When you do:

If a local AI engine (Ollama) is running on your machine, the request stays entirely local.
Otherwise, the relevant clip content is sent over an encrypted connection to our processing endpoint (api.cliplens.dev) to generate the result. Clips flagged as sensitive are filtered out before sending.
We do not use your AI requests to train models, and we do not retain them beyond what is needed to return your result.

5. Purchases & licenses (Pro)

Pro subscriptions are processed by our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record. Payment details (card information) are handled by them, not by us — see the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy. We receive your license key and subscription status to validate Pro access.

6. Website analytics

The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not track individuals across sites. It gives us aggregate page-view counts only.

7. Data retention & your choices

You control your clipboard history: auto-clean removes old clips automatically, and you can delete any clip or clear everything at any time from within the app.
Uninstalling the app and deleting the %APPDATA%\cliplens folder removes all local data.

8. Children

ClipLens is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

9. Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
